  ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (BNM) -- Serving asylum-seeking migrants is as simple as "a cup of cold water in Jesus' name" says Frieda Adams, a former 20-year veteran Southern Baptist missionary and current coordinator for medical personnel in New Mexico's Dona Ana County.

  Adams is one of many Baptists in New Mexico providing humanitarian assistance to asylum-seeking migrants vetted and released by United States Customs and Border Patrol agents, en route to approved immigration sponsors in other parts of the country. Read More

  The institute (IFPS), a research center at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, hosted the dialogue in conjunction with the University of New Orleans, Southern University of New Orleans and the University of Holy Cross.

  CARY, N.C. (BP) -- North Carolina Baptists are stepping up their ministry to immigrants.

  A new Baptist Immigrant Services (BIS) ministry being gradually launched by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (BSCNC) will set up a yet-unspecified number of immigration ministry centers across the state. The first center is being established in Lincolnton.

  Churches and associations will be encouraged to establish a variety of ministry efforts to engage immigrants with the Gospel. In addition, the ministry centers will be staffed by individuals trained and qualified to help immigrants understand their rights and immigration options. Read More
