    NASHVILLE (BP) -- Did Jesus really rise from the dead?

    It's a question asked and answered each Easter in news reports, television documentaries and personal conversations. This year, two Southern Baptists who train others to defend the faith have offered their thoughts on the best way to answer.

    Rob Phillips, who leads apologetics for the Missouri Baptist Convention, pointed to the "minimal facts argument," which defends the resurrection using only evidence "considered virtually undeniable," even by skeptics. Stephen Wellum, a theology professor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said evidence for the resurrection always must be coupled with an explanation of the resurrection's significance within the Christian worldview.     REDWAY, Calif. (BP) -- "At one time there were three very healthy churches in Redway and now we are the last church standing."

    Dave Seaford, pastor of First Baptist Church in the northern California town of 1,200, ventured to one of the nation's most fertile regions for growing marijuana, legally and illegally, in 2014.

    The small congregation -- some aging, others part-time workers -- felt a burden for Redway's secularity and "sacrificed to bring us here," said Seaford, former pastor of a North Carolina church founded by Norm Geisler, one of the leading experts in the field of apologetics.     NEW ORLEANS (BP) -- Abdu Murray was a devout Muslim who rarely encountered Christians who could defend their faith. His journey from Islam to faith in Christ began after meeting the few "annoying" Christians who could.

    Murray, North American director for Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, told of his nine-year journey at Defend 2017, an annual apologetics conference sponsored by New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary's Institute for Christian Apologetics.
