  OKLAHOMA CITY (BP) -- During a missionary Sending Celebration held in conjunction with their 2019 Annual Meeting, hundreds of Oklahoma Baptists from across the state witnessed how their giving enables the International Mission Board to send missionaries around the globe. The IMB appointed 29 missionaries, voted on and approved by IMB trustees, at Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City on Tuesday (Nov. 12). • IMB worker Andy Leininger dies at 56

  RICHMOND (BP) -- Andrew (Andy) N. Leininger, who served as a Christian worker in the former Soviet Union for 22 years, died in his home state of Missouri on October 13, 2019. He was 56.

  In November 2016, Leininger was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive cancer that caused a brain tumor. In the months that followed, he had multiple surgeries and treatments. On October 12, 2019, his wife Elizabeth shared an update on Facebook that Leininger had moved to Hospice care. On October 13, she wrote, "Andy is in Glory with our precious Savior." Read More

  BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (BP) -- The new president of the International Mission Board preached June 11 at the 38th annual meeting of the Council of Korean Southern Baptist Churches in America, or Korean Council.

  IMB President Paul Chitwood spoke Tuesday evening, June 11, at First Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove, Ala., a Birmingham suburb, where about 700 people had gathered for the Korean Council. He spoke during a three-hour "Missions Celebration" during the three-day Korean meeting, which takes place each year in the same city as the SBC annual meeting. Read More

  VENEZUELA (BP) -- With tears streaming down her face, an elderly woman stood before me half way across the Simon Bolivar International Bridge between Colombia and Venezuela. She was one of thousands to cross the bridge on foot that day. Most carried food, medicine, and other essential items. They came to Colombia to secure whatever they could carry in their hands or on their backs before making the long journey back home.

  Others had no plans to return. Instead, they were already miles deep in the Colombian mountains with hopes of making their way to other South American countries. They had heard there were places where refugees are welcome, jobs are available, and a better life awaits. Read More

  RICHMOND, Va. (BP) -- The International Mission Board's website -- IMB.org -- has launched a new home page and renovation of other online pages to make it easier for Southern Baptists to partner with the IMB in global mission praying, giving, going and sending.
