    SAN DIEGO, Calif. (BP) -- The 71st annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society focused on the theme "Christ in All Scripture" and gave an opportunity for scholars to engage the whole Bible and its witness to Jesus as the heart of scriptural revelation and the Christian faith.

    According to a count by Baptist Press, 193 of the presentations were given by Southern Baptist scholars. Among those in ETS leadership, R.     DENVER (BP) -- The Holy Spirit theme of the Evangelical Theological Society's annual meeting provided a venue for application of Scripture's teaching on the Holy Spirit to a variety of disciplines.

    According to a count by Baptist Press, a quarter of the presentations (some 190 of 750) were offered by scholars with ties to Southern Baptist churches, Southern Baptist Convention entities and colleges that partner with Baptist state conventions.

  • Mohler elected VP of Evangelical Theological Society

    DENVER (BP) -- R. Albert Mohler Jr. has been elected as vice president of the Evangelical Theological Society, effective immediately following this year's Nov. 13-15 annual meeting in Denver.

    Mohler was elected as vice president with no objections from fellow scholars at the 70th annual ETS meeting. He is the third representative in the last 15 years from Southern Seminary to serve as vice president of ETS, following Thomas R. Schreiner and Bruce A. Ware.

    Schreiner, Southern Seminary's James Buchanan Harrison Professor of New Testament, was ETS vice president in 2012 and president in 2013.

    Ware, SBTS T. Rupert and Lucille Coleman Professor of Christian Theology, was vice president of ETS before becoming president in 2009. Read More

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. (BP) -- "The Heritage of the Reformation" was the theme at this year's annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society, where Southern Baptists delivered nearly a third of the gathering's presentations and Trinity International University President David Dockery was elected president.

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas (BP) -- A biblical argument for congregational singing, insights for planning worship and a case for multigenerational worship services are among the music-related topics being discussed by Southern Baptist theologians.
