    OKLAHOMA CITY (BP) -- More than 1,000 Oklahoma Baptist messengers and guests from across the state gathered Nov. 11-12 at Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City for the 113th Annual Meeting of Oklahoma Baptists.

    From approving an increased Cooperative Program (CP) spending plan for 2020 that allocates $1 million more to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), to hosting an International Mission Board (IMB) Sending Celebration that sent 29 missionaries to the field, the 2019 Annual Meeting was marked by major ministry milestones.     OKLAHOMA CITY (BP) -- During a missionary Sending Celebration held in conjunction with their 2019 Annual Meeting, hundreds of Oklahoma Baptists from across the state witnessed how their giving enables the International Mission Board to send missionaries around the globe. The IMB appointed 29 missionaries, voted on and approved by IMB trustees, at Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City on Tuesday (Nov. 12). Paul Chitwood, IMB President, preached the message at the service, challenging and encouraging the missionaries and attendees to do the good work God has called them to. Read More

    FORT GIBSON, Okla. (BP) -- It has been nearly 18 years since the darkest day of Lonnie Rowan's life. On Dec. 31, 2001, Rowan fell into a brush fire on his Ft. Gibson, Okla., property. With burns over 35 percent of his body, doctors gave him a 1 percent chance to live.

    EDMOND, Okla. (BP) -- The 2018 annual meeting of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (BGCO) featured many highlights, including the installation of Hance Dilbeck as the ninth executive director-treasurer in the state convention's history.

    More than 650 registered messengers, and many more guests, gathered at First Baptist Church, Edmond, on Nov. 12-13 for the 112th annual meeting of the BGCO, which had the theme of "To Him be the Glory in the Church."

  • Hance Dilbeck elected as Okla. executive director

    OKLAHOMA CITY (BP) -- Hance Dilbeck was elected as the next executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma in a unanimous vote by the BGCO Board of Directors Dec. 11 in Oklahoma City.

    Dilbeck, who has served as senior pastor of Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City since 2003, will become the ninth executive director in the convention's 101-year history. Dilbeck will succeed current BGCO Executive Director-Treasurer Anthony Jordan, who has led the convention since April 1996.

    Members of the BGCO Executive Search Committee, who began their search last September, spoke enthusiastically about Dilbeck during the Dec. 11 meeting at the Baptist Building, voicing how they believe God guided the decision process. Read More

    The nomination of Dilbeck, who serves as pastor of Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, comes from the BGCO Board of Directors' Executive Director-Treasurer Search Committee.     OKLAHOMA CITY (BP) -- Anthony Jordan delivered his final address as executive director-treasurer of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma during the Nov. 13-14 annual meeting at Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

    Jordan, who will retire next April after 22 years of leading the convention, also announced a new ministry opportunity for Oklahoma Baptists, reporting that the BGCO will be given the 199-acre Tulakogee Camp and Conference Center in eastern Oklahoma. Read More

  • Anthony Jordan to retire after 'journey of a lifetime'

    OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (BP) -- Anthony L. Jordan, who has served as executive director-treasurer of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma since April 1996, announced Tuesday (Sept. 12) his plans to retire next year.

    Jordan's nearly 22-year tenure stands as the longest of any to hold that role in Oklahoma. He announced his decision to retire during the BGCO Board of Directors meeting.

    "This has been the journey of a lifetime," Jordan shared in his remarks to the board. Read More
