  ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- The International Mission Board (IMB) and the North American Mission Board (NAMB) announced Bryant Wright as the new president of Send Relief today (March 2). Wright was the founding pastor of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga., where he served for 38 years.

  "In today's culture, compassion ministry is a wonderful way to win the right to be heard, not just with people you're ministering to who are in great need, but with those who see Christians respond to needs in a compassionate way," Wright said. "Send Relief allows us to have a positive witness on behalf of the whole convention." Read More

  TORONTO (BP) -- Five years ago, there were only two Hispanic Canadian Baptist churches in the entire province of Ontario in Canada. One of those churches was located on the west side of Toronto.

  "What we thought was that on the east of Toronto, there was no Hispanic church at all," said church planting missionary J.D. Fasolino. "There is a large population of Hispanics here. We knew that. We did our research, but it was actually bigger than we thought." Read More

  WASHINGTON (BP) -- Super Tuesday ballots in 14 states and American Samoa could solidify a Democratic challenger for President Donald Trump and shape congressional races in five states. Trump has no strong challenger for the Republican nomination.

  Amy Klobuchar on Monday (March 2) became the latest Democratic challenger to end her bid, a campaign official announced, saying Klobuchar would instead support former Vice President Joe Biden. The Minnesota U.S. senator had gained seven delegates, according to ballotpedia.org. Read More

• 62 cents a year could fund historic number of new IMB missionaries

  NASHVILLE, (BP) -- If every Southern Baptist increased giving to international missions by the price of a single cup of coffee over the next five years, the International Mission Board would see historic growth in the number of missionaries it could fund.

  That's the cost of the first of five strategic action statements of Vision 2025, which was approved by the Executive Committee in February and will be brought for messenger approval at the 2020 SBC Annual Meeting.
