  SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas (BP) -- Kris Workman, paralyzed during the melee at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, is leading worship from a wheelchair for the rural Texas congregation.

  Ryland Ward, age 6, came home from the hospital Jan. 11 after multiple operations for four wounds inflicted by the gunman who killed 26 people -- including his mother and two of his sisters -- at First Baptist on Nov. 5.

  Ryland -- riding in a fire truck in a police convoy -- returned to Sutherland Springs after a two-month hospitalization in San Antonio, 30 miles away. Read More

  CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (BP) -- Two evangelical physicists are hopeful the most powerful rocket ever launched into space by a private company will lead humans to greater knowledge of God.

  "Sending rockets into space is simply part of being what God created humans to be," said Bill Nettles, chairman of the physics department at Union University, "creative problem solvers, investigators of beauty and mystery."

  SpaceX, a private company founded by entrepreneur Elon Musk, launched the Falcon Heavy rocket Tuesday (Feb. 6) from Cape Canaveral, Fla. The Falcon Heavy's ability to lift 144,000 pounds into low-Earth orbit is a record for rockets launched by private companies, according to The New York Times. Read More

  NEW ORLEANS (BP) -- Many believers struggle to "find" God's will, David Platt said in chapel Feb. 1 at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. But he added, "God's will is not something to be 'found.'"

  Platt spoke at the NOBTS Missions Emphasis Day and referenced 2.8 billion people who have little or no knowledge of Jesus.

  "God has [already] clearly revealed His will to us. He has made it clear what He wants us to do," Platt said. "He wants us to take the Gospel to them." Read More

• Conservative Resurgence archives to be housed at new SWBTS center

  FORT WORTH, Texas (BP) -- It has been more than 40 years since the Southern Baptist Convention's "Conservative Resurgence" took root, embracing biblical authority and distancing its entities and seminaries from what had been called a growing presence of liberal ideology.

  The libraries and archives of Adrian Rogers, the first SBC president of that era, and James C. Hefley Jr., the primary journalist of that movement, will be preserved as part of the new Baptist Heritage Library at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, along with the collections of Jerry Vines and Paige Patterson. • Univ. cancels Ken Ham after LGBT group 'put up a fuss'

  EDMOND, Okla. (BP) -- Christian apologist and creationist Ken Ham has been dropped from the speaking lineup of a public university after a campus LGBT group complained to event organizers, Ham said in a Feb. 6 press release.

  Ham was to speak March 5 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond on "Genesis and the State of the Culture," in an event organized by the UCO Student Association (UCOSA). But UCOSA cancelled the event when a pro-LGBT group objected, said Ham, founder of the Answers in Genesis (AiG) apologetics ministry that built the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter in Kentucky.
